SFCT 2024

THE LEAGUE

SFCT - THE LEAGUE is a 5-Week Progression Series of Top-Rope & Lead Climbing, beginning March 20th and culminating in a Spring Fling Finale on April 20th, 2024.

What is it?

The LEAGUE is a team only competition. Build your team and compete to be the best climbing crew!

Teams are made up of 4 climbers. Each climber’s score is added to the team’s total. You can choose to climb with your team or without, but your scores will be combined with your teammates.

The competition starts March 20th and concludes with the Spring Fling Finale on April 20th.

Register by February 28th to get a complimentary t-shirt with registration! T-shirts will be handed out on the first day of the comp.

All competition participants will also receive entry into the Spring Fling League Finale on April 20th, and entry into the draw to win a bunch of rad prizes from an exciting group of sponsors.

New competition routes will be set every Wednesday and will be available to climb until Tuesday of each week. The routes will feature a range of styles and difficulty levels. Climbers are encouraged to try all the competition routes!

What are the rules?

Crag X will not be providing belayers. All belayers must be tested at Crag X.

For Lead-Climbers:

  • Clip all the draws. Leaders must not allow their belay loop to go past a draw. Skipped draw results in an automatic disqualification & pulling of Crag X lead cert.

  • Clip both anchors. Clip both carabiners at the anchor or the send doesn’t count.

  • Climb like you normally do. Crag X staff hold the right to pull climbers from the lead comp at any time if climbing or belaying is deemed too risky. (i.e. uncaught tripping hazards, clipping errors, poor belaying, general sketchiness).

For Top-Ropers:

  • No power-belaying. Don’t pull your climber up the wall!

  • Two hands on finish hold. Climbers must hold the finish hold with two hands for the send.

How does scoring work?

During the 5-week series, participants will try to send as many competition routes as possible. Points will be allotted based on the following results:

  • FLASH 4 Points (sending the route on your first try with no takes or falls)

  • REDPOINT 3 Points (sending the route on any attempt after your first with no takes or falls)

  • ZONE 2 2 Points (making it to the second marked hold part-way up the route with no takes or falls)

  • ZONE 1 1 Point (making it to the first marked hold part-way up the route with no takes or falls)

  • Climbing on lead? Get one point added to your score.

Participants will keep track of their scores on an online score board. Check the live leaderboard throughout the comp to see how your team is doing. Team score is the score of all four climbers added together.

What are the Zones?

The zones are marked holds partway up the route. Making it to the 1st zone hold counts for one point. Making it to the 2nd zone hold counts for 2 points. The zone holds must be held with control for them to count.

Who can enter?

Anyone aged 12+ can enter the competition.

What do I get?

You get scoring, a t-shirt, the 5-week scramble, entry into our Spring Fling League Finale and a chance at a bunch of sweet prizes from a range of rad sponsors. All of this, plus something to focus your training and climbing!
