Plastic Fantastic
A multidisciplinary event to test your skills as a well rounded climber.
What you will need:
Your pals! You will need a team of 4.
At least one lead climber is highly recommended as there will be routes set on the lead wall and lead bonuses will be given for other routes.
The Catch:
More attempts* = less points, so bring your try hard!
The Schedule:
Week 1: Bouldering
Boulders will be set worth various amounts of points depending on difficulty.
You can make as many attempts* as you'd like on a boulder, but keep track of your attempts since each attempt you make knocks points off your score!
For boulders, lose 1 point per attempt.
Every team member submits their best 3 tops with attempt penalties included.
Week 2 & 3: Top Rope and Lead Climbing**
5 top rope routes and 1 lead route per week worth various amounts of points depending on difficulty.
Each route will have multiple zones worth an increasing number of points.
Each attempt* you take knocks points off your score for that route though, so use your attempts wisely.
For routes, lose 5 points per attempt.
Every team member submits their best 3 tops/high points for each week with attempt penalties included.
**Routes done on lead earn a 10 point bonus
Week 4: Speed practice with wrap-up relay on November 29
Practice your speedy skills on the autobelay all week because on Saturday you and your team will race relay style to see who is the fastest!
Automatic disqualification if you drop the autobelay strap, so make sure someone on the team is spotting on the changeover.
Submitting Scores:
By Nov 28th, all team members will submit their best 3 scores from each week.
You can continue working on routes/problems up until Friday Nov 28, but scores must be submitted prior to Finals Day.
Once scores are submitted they cannot be changed.
*Attempts
On a boulder we count an attempt from once you leave the ground until when you fall/touch the ground. You can climb back up and try moves, but this counts as an additional attempt.
On a rope we count an attempt from once you leave the ground until when you fall/touch the ground—i.e. if you come back down to the ground and try again after your flash go, this will count as your second attempt.
You may work the moves on a rope after you've fallen as much as you'd like as long as you don't come down in between. You do need to come down and start from the ground again before you can earn points (hang doggers rejoice!).
